Job Description
This role will take part in developing, honing, and communicating the artistic vision for an upcoming semi-stylized shooter game. This role will also work within the stylistic boundaries set by the Art Director and play a central role in creating beautiful, inspirational concepts of props and environments.
Responsibilities
- Create an inspired world and prop art
- Work with the Art Director and team leads to create compelling art that will help support the overall look and feel of the game.
- Design a wide range of original concepts for a full range of props and game assets including vehicles, interior, and exterior environments, weapons, objects, etc.
- Maintain the visual style
- Assist with the creation of the style guide for the visual direction and language to be used throughout the project.
- Create lighting and mood schemes that help define the tone and emotion of the world.
- Collaborate with other artists and departments to contribute to the creative vision
- Participate actively with the design and art teams to create unique and innovative solutions for visual problems.
- Work closely with 3D artists to achieve the best look and feel for the game aesthetics, both receiving and giving feedback.
- Work efficiently as part of a team and communicate well.
Qualifications
- Experience
- A portfolio demonstrating your previous work in the games industry or personal.
- Experienced in creating art for content-driven games.
- Extensive knowledge of art fundamentals such as composition, layout, lighting, color theory, visual storytelling, silhouette, and shapes.
- Skills
- Good sense for light, tone, form, and palette.
- Expert knowledge of photoshop and a high capacity to learn new tools.
- Able to create mood boards as references intended to evoke or project a particular style.
- Ability to create to work artists to work in three dimensions and work from limited reference material.
- Task-driven, self-motivated, and proactive.
- Bonus: An appreciation of shooter games and modern environments.
